New international studies show that 55% of travellers plan to take the car during the holidays this year, and 35 % plan to fly. Searches for rental cars in Europe have increased sharply compared with the same period in 2019. Best road trip destination 2022 – Germany

Germany took first place with high marks, especially in the categories Comfort & Infrastructure, Nature & Attractions, with a large number of charging stations for electric vehicles and fewer car accidents per 100,000 inhabitants than most other countries.

Most sustainable – the Netherlands

68% of travellers state that their summer plans have been influenced by a sustainability perspective. According to the index for road trips 2022, the Netherlands is the best destination for a sustainable road trip. They have more charging stations for electric vehicles and fewer cars per inhabitant than most other countries that have been analyzed. Iceland and Estonia are in second and third place respectively due to low air pollution and the number of traffic jams.
