Comorbidity Disorders Associated with Obesity

Most of us now know that obesity is a very dangerous health condition. However, few of us truly understand just how dangerous it is, and at how much risk of death we actually place ourselves by not keeping our weight in check. This is particularly true for the morbidly obese, who have a BMI of at least 40, meaning they carry at least 100 pounds in excessive weight.

Someone who is morbidly obese places all their joints and organs under tremendous stress. This is due to the sheer pressure of the weight that they carry. Inevitably, this will lead to serious health conditions. But just how dangerous are the dangers that are associated with morbid obesity? We know that there are plenty of people who are of a reasonable age and who are obese, so surely this means that it is possible to survive with obesity as well? While this may be true, there are a few factors to remember:

  1. The obese often look older than they are.
  2. Many of the conditions they suffer from are hidden.
  3. Those that do live long lives with morbid obesity are few and far between.

It certainly is possible to live a reasonably normal life when you are obese. However, the reality is that the chance of you developing a serious illness is very big. The life expectancy of morbidly obese people is much shorter than the average person as well. Furthermore, the longer you are obese, the more chance you have of becoming ill. The most likely killers are heart attacks and type 2 diabetes, but there are many other comorbidities (illnesses that are related directly to being obese) as well. In fact, when you are morbidly obese, every single organ in your body will be affected adversely in some way.

Some comorbidities have the potential to be lethal. Others are nothing but a small irritation. However, all of them will affect your quality of life in some way. You may think that the Reshape balloon surgery cost is too high, but the reality is that your comorbidity issues will cost you a great deal more over time.

Types of Comorbidities

There are many different comorbidities, and lots of them are incredibly dangers. Some of the worst ones include type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high triglycerides and hypertension. These conditions, in turn, can lead to lethal medical emergencies such as kidney failure, heart attack, and strokes. Essentially, these various comorbidity disorders affect all of the cardiovascular system.

There are so many comorbidity disorders that it would be impossible to list them all here. What this shows, more than anything, is that morbid obesity is truly dangerous. Some of them can even lead to sudden death, and this often happens without warning.

You must, if at all possible, avoid becoming obese. Try, as much as you can, to eat well and move more. There is a chance that you are one of the few who can be morbidly obese without any real health problems, but do you want to take that chance?
