Surfing for a Sofa?

It’s time for a new sofa. You thought a Sofa was just a sofa right? Wrong! It’s not till you come to buy a new one that you realise just how many different types of sofa there are out there! Let’s have a look at a few of the different types out there:

The Sectional sofa – exactly what it says! A sofa that comes in sections. The more sections, the more configurations you can have. These are also very easy to move around. They can fit into a corner and typically come in a L-Shape or U-Shape.

The Chesterfield – These are sofas with a ‘quilted’ effect on the back and sometimes on the arms and seat.

The ‘English’ sofa – These sofas have low rise arms in relation to a high back. An English sofa is recognized by the tautness of the upholstery and low arms.  In fact, some English rolled arm sofas have arms so low as to appear to be armless.

The Camel Back – The camel back sofa’s main design feature is a higher back in the center which descends in a continuous line into the arms of the sofa. They’re sometimes recognized for exposed wood legs as well as exposed wood on top of the back and arms. This a fairly classic design, but you can buy contemporary camel back sofa designs, which tend to be more comfortable than the old-fashioned styles.

The Chaise-Lounge – Chaise lounges are still popular, although they are mainly used as part of a bedroom suite. Some chaise lounges have an arm while others have no arms.  Also, the chaise lounge is extremely popular as a patio or conservatory furniture item.

The Loveseat – The loveseat sofa is an umbrella term for a sofa made for two people.  They’re often part of a living room set. Like sofas, loveseats come in many styles and designs such as camelback, cabriole, etc.

What next? You’ve spent months scouring the retail parks and searching online. You’ve measured up your tiny living room again and again to see what will fit. Not much! Finally, you decided on that the beautiful, emerald green, two-piece, leather Chesterfield with the curved arms. It’s going to look fabulous next to those velour curtains you bought last week. As usual with the major purchases in your life, you’ve managed to pick out the most expensive sofa you’ve seen. You atynd your expensive taste!

After you’ve excitedly signed on the dotted line, your enthusiasm dies as you are told it will take six weeks to deliver your sparkly new sofa. Sorry, you’ll have to put up with that old, drab, brown sofa for just a little while longer.

But wait, what are you going to do with the old one? Why not think about hiring a sofa removal company to take away your old sofa? There are reliable waste companies out there who will dispose of your sofa in a cost-effective manner. If you are concerned, as many are, about where exactly your old sofa will end-up, there are also environmentally considerate waste disposal companies who will re-use or recycle the sofa if able and dispose of un-recyclable items in a responsible way. Alternatively, you could look at donating your sofa to charity. Large items can be a good source of funds for a worthy cause. Finally, if you can be bothered with the time and effort involved, think about selling your sofa online if it’s still in good condition.

Whatever type of sofa you decide to purchase, enjoy!
