How to Refresh Your Kerb Appeal

The way your home looks from the outside will affect what your potential buyers think of it. You decide whether you like something within seconds, and your potential buyers will be no different. If you want to make a great first impression, then you need to refresh your kerb appeal. Here’s how:

Paint the Front Door

If you want your home to be memorable, then one of the most simple and effective ways of doing it is to paint your front door in a gorgeous colour. It’s the first thing that anyone sees when they arrive at your home, so make sure it stands out. Bright colours in a glossy paint (as long as it’s painted well) look beautiful, but if you’re not that brave, try a darker colour or a matte pastel shade.

Symmetry

Symmetry is really pleasing to the eye, and it’s relatively simple to arrange. Think sconces and plant pots on either side of the door, making the entrance to your home feel welcoming.

Quality Door Hardware

Complement your now gorgeously painted door with good quality hardware. Choose letterboxes and numbers that match the style of the architecture of the building.

Tidy Up!

The approach to the front door should be clear of rubbish and leaves, with any vehicles parked as neatly as possible. If you have railings or fences, make sure they’re freshly painted.

Windows

Windows should be kept clean to keep the house looking perky. If your window frames are rotten, then you need to get rid of them and replace them with new ones, but make sure that they’re in keeping with the style of the rest of the house.

You don’t have to keep them white either, as windows do look good in colour as long as you ensure that it complements the brick colour.

Try to make sure that the curtains and blinds should match when seen from the outside.

Lighting

Outdoor lighting will help draw the eye to the house, especially if you have lights flanking the path up to your home, or a sconce near your door. A fun way to use lighting is to put it in your tree or trees.

Container Gardens

If you don’t have much room or impetus to spruce up your garden, then a quick and easy container garden adds lots of kerb appeal. You can buy readymade containers from garden centres or you can do it yourself if you’re feeling creative.
