Make Aloe Vera Your Best Ally If You Have Oily Skin

During the summer the skin tends to alter a bit and produce a little more oil. One of our favorite “tricks” is to use the Aloe Vera plant to counteract it gently and naturally… you just have to see the number of properties it has and how much it can help us maintain the good condition of the skin, although, like any plant, you have to know it thoroughly to avoid making mistakes in its use.

Aloe Vera has bactericidal, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and regenerating properties, the latter because it increases blood flow in the area. Its effectiveness is also since it has the ability to penetrate the skin and purify the fat found in the pores, in such a way that it prevents them from becoming clogged and pimples from forming. At the same time, the skin absorbs all its vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, so we achieve several advantages with its application.

It is generally used as a mask to purify the skin, reduce blemishes, to relieve burns and shallow wounds.

How is aloe vera used?

The oldest way of taking advantage of all its properties is by extracting the gel directly from the plant, although care must be taken because there is a layer between it and the leaf called “acibar”, which when applied to the skin can damage it. It is best to cut the leaf and squeeze it a little or open it horizontally in half to extract the gel. This can be applied as a mask on the face (leaving it for about 10 minutes), and then rinsing with water.

The other way to use it is by using products that contain it; Today it is very easy to get pure Aloe Vera gel, or with products that have it in high proportions.

We can recommend three products that give very good results, especially in those moments when you feel that your skin produces more oil than normal:

  • Skeen powder cleanser: It has a great formulation that includes salicylic acid, so it helps a lot to control the production of sebum and to dry the pimples that we have.
  • Sesderma Mandelac Scrub: Its third ingredient is Aloe and it is perfect for oily and sensitive skin.
  • Sebamed Aloe Vera Dermohydrating Gel: It is a gel that you can use both on your face and the body since it works very well as an aftersun. If you put it in the fridge it is a perfect multipurpose.
  • Vera Green Moisturizing Cream: we found it to be a true marvel and with an incredible value for money.

Before using any of them or even the same plant, we recommend doing a tolerance test on the skin, since some people do not react in the same way to its components and may develop an allergy. Do not forget that you can achieve these same effects if you have an oily scalp.
