DIY Luxury Body Polish

Who doesn’t love to indulge in a luxury pampering session?

On my recent holiday to Sydney I got treated to a Yanko body polish at The Spa of the Darling Hotel and instantly became addicted. This full body treatment combined a Northern Territory native aromatic oil with Desert Salts to exfoliate, a real sensory bliss!

In my dreams I’d have this skin invigorating experience every week but back in the real world it’s too pricey. So when I came home I decided to find a natural do-it-yourself alternative that would leave my skin feeling just as soft and luxurious without breaking the bank.

I wanted to combine my favourite things; beauty, chocolate and coconut, so I created this amazing, natural and nourishing chocolate and coconut body polish.

For an easy home treatment that really delivers, gather together the following ingredients (preferably organic sourced products).

½ cup white sugar

½ cup brown sugar

¾ cup of coconut oil

¼ cup of cocoa powder

A few drops of coconut essential oil

The coconut oil will moisturise your skin leaving it soft and smooth while the essential oil or vanilla helps to add a subtle fragrance.

Directions:

Add sugars and cocoa powder together in a large bowl.

Add the coconut essential oil or vanilla.

Add coconut oil and mix thoroughly.

Store mixture in clean glass jars.

Warning

Use a wooden spoon to scoop out your body polish, because this product is natural and if you put your hands in the jar you run the risk of turning the coconut oil rancid.

Avoid using plastic containers to store your body polish as the plastic can absorb the oil.

Hot Tips

Set aside a full afternoon to pamper yourself and give that real luxury feeling.

Take a hot shower or bath first to soften the skin, then play some relaxing music and work the body polish from your toes all the way up to your neck, focussing on any dry areas. After that, take another shower to rinse off followed by an application of your favourite body moisturiser.

You can even create your own spa water to sip through your treatments by adding slices of lemon, lime or cucumber to water to infuse.

You don’t have to be at a luxury hotel spa to have a great pampering session. All you need is some dedicated time, and a few natural ingredients mixed in the right proportions, to have soft gorgeous skin on a budget.
